I am working on a cross platform game, and Cocos2D-XNA currently lacks on Mouse Support. I see that the other platform specific input devices are hold together via interfaces and implemented on CCNode.These are: ICCTargeted Touch Delegate, ICCStandard Touch Delegate, ICCTouch Delegate, ICCKeypad Delegate, ICCKeyboard Delegate.A couple of heuristics are mentioned for the splitting.The minimum volume box (MVB) containing a point set is the minimum volume box containing the convex hull of the points. Based on a result of Joe O'Rourke, the MVB is supported by a face of the polyhedron or by three perpendicular edges of the polyhedron.

Let's take a look at what happens when two spheres are touching.

I don't know the actual solution to find the tightest fit - but here is an adhoc one I came up with.1) Pick the 3 basis axis(x,y,z) project each vertex onto those axis finding the min and max for each.

Store these values2) Rotate the basis axis by some small step(or perhaps large like 45 degree's)3) Repeat step 1 and check if the area of the min to max is smaller then the new one calculated.

If you continue to do that for a full circle you should get the best fitting.

The Gottschalk paper is a standard reference on OBB fitting, but the algorithm is not trivial to implement.
